I'm following a strong urge to work with old papers, threads, raw canvas. It is the materiality that pulls me in and the tactile quality that these layers create which I enjoy.

I love words being in my work, as part of an upside-down fractured mass or as torn out stand alone sounds. Words surround the subjects and create a special feeling. Whispers and words that cross different languages and times. There is something of stories of a past in the words of old papers. I like that. we never know the true story that lies in such fragments.

The meanings of these works are unknown to me until later in their making, however even at that stage it can be ambiguous. There is a thread forming whereby they are all outsiders from 'a reality', but they are outsiders who are free.

I'm not drawn towards making pretty pictures. I'm attracted to strangeness and I like to convey that back.
